In Port Washington, Wisconsin, I recently handled a German cockroach infestation that was moving fast and causing a lot of frustration for the homeowner. German roaches are not like the occasional roach someone might see once in a while. When they are established, they hide tight in the warmest and most protected areas, multiply quickly, and spread into new zones if you treat them the wrong way. This is exactly why Cockroach Extermination needs a structured plan, not a single product or a quick spray.
On this job, the goal was to create a rapid drop in activity while also setting the home up for complete elimination. The first step was using a flushing aerosol agent deep into cracks and crevices where roaches were nesting. The purpose was simple: drive hidden roaches out so they could be removed and so I could see where the real hot spots were. At the same time, I vacuumed up large amounts of roaches. That immediate removal matters because every roach you physically remove is one less roach breeding, shedding, and contaminating the space.
Next, I applied a residually active treatment in the right areas to gain control of the adult roaches as they continued to move and forage. After that, I applied an IGR, which acts like roach birth control. This step is huge because even when adults are dropping, you still have immature roaches coming up behind them unless you interrupt the life cycle.
Finally, I placed bait in multiple strategic cracks and crevices elsewhere to pull roaches out and hit them with a different mode of action. Baiting is not just an add on. When used correctly, it helps reach roaches that avoid open areas and it continues working between visits. All of these tools, used together and placed correctly, are the key to fast results.
Within three days, the customer saw about a 90 to 95 percent reduction in activity. For a moderate infestation, that pace is exactly what you want, and with follow up and proper preparation, problems like this are often fully resolved within a week or two. That is what Cockroach Extermination should look like when it is done with a real plan.
I took this picture after flushing out vacuuming up somewhere around 70-100 German Cockroaches behind a fridge. What You see is what crawled out while I stopped vacuuming briefly to snap a quick photo
